Help & FAQ
Why does my actual payslip differ from the simulation?
Employers configure payroll differently: some average irregular income, some apply fringe benefit valuations, and deduction timing varies. NPS uses standard SARS annualisation — treat it as an accurate planning estimate, not a payslip replica.
How is a bonus or 13th cheque taxed?
A bonus doesn't get a special tax rate. Payroll annualises it: your tax is recalculated as if your total annual income includes the bonus, so the extra tax is charged at your marginal rate.
What is the difference between CTC and gross?
Gross is the cash paid to you before deductions. Cost to company (CTC) adds employer contributions (pension, medical, risk benefits) on top. Two offers with the same CTC can produce very different take-home pay — use the comparison tool.
Why does the benchmark say INSUFFICIENT DATA?
We publish benchmarks only from 15 or more anonymised contributions for a job/industry/province cut. Rather than inventing a number, we tell you the evidence isn't there. Contribute your own (anonymous) data point to help.
What is the NPS Package Score?
A proprietary 0–100 indicator combining net retention, retirement provision, benefits and tax efficiency. It is not an official rating — use it as one lens among several.
Is my salary data stored?
No. Simulation inputs are calculated in your browser and never sent to our servers. Optional benchmark contributions are anonymous and aggregate-only. See the data policy for details.
